Prototype dart fletching bug?

Hi, I was just reading the "Why 10th December 2001" document and came across the line that states

Fletching in Classic was broken by prototype darts in 2003, and bow strings broke the Crafting skill.

I'd love to know more about this if anyone wanted to share. I tried to search about it but nothing seemed to come up, unless I am just blind.

Creating the prototype dart during the Tourist Trap quest gives fletching XP that scales with your current level... which is a lot. Furthermore, after you make the first one, there's a glitch wherein subsequent dart tips don't require a bronze bar.
So by keeping the quest at this stage, you can continuously make darts over and over with just feathers, getting scaled fletch XP each time. I've never done it myself, but IIRC you have to drop the dart stack to be able to make a new one each one, but the the XP is insane. I think you can mostly max fletching in a 24 hour period if you're very dedicated. (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

There's some mentions of it on the prototype dart tip page on the wiki, as well as the fletching training page, but it's not fully fleshed out.

Thats really interesting, and kind of funny. Was there a lot of stuff like this going on toward the end of RSC's life?
