The Adventures of Rin

Post by Rin »

I'm going to try and keep track of my regular 4x account "Rin" so I can see my progress over time and stay motivated to keep going and post updates!

Starting with some very basic skilling / combat until I get the itch to do something else. :)

Before I get going, first thing is first, I pushed through enough mining and smithing and saved up just enough money for a nice rune long sword! Look out world!

Another day with more quests done, today I completed some of the slightly more lengthy ones.

Black knight's fortress - Not too bad but almost died in the room with 3 black knights! Apparently they aren't very impressed by iron armor but I made it through, you have to be quick passing through the room if you don't want to fight all 3 of them. reaper

Goblin diplomacy - Gathering the materials is the longer portion of this quest but once you have all the items it's just a few minutes of dialogue and a job well done.

Pirate's treasure - Fun little quest, not too difficult and you get to travel by boat to a nice tropical destination and even find yourself employed at a little banana plantation! Side note: the karamjan rum is not very good for drinking but makes a great cooking ingredient.

Prince Ali Rescue - I think if I break down the process of this quest it comes out to about 80% gathering everything you need (it takes a while) and maybe 20% actually doing anything involving the quest that isn't gathering materials. It's fun but definitely not my first pick in terms of adventures I would like to revisit. bleh

The knight's sword - Went a lot better than expected. First, I expected trouble when I gathered ingredients for only 1 redberry pie, I knew if I burned it that it would mean certain doom or another 20 minutes of gathering more ingredients but fortunately I successfully cooked it on the first try.

Second, my iron armor had held up just enough to get me by at the black knight fortress but I knew I was pushing the limits of what it could do facing the ice giants and ice warriors in the Asgarnian dungeon near Thurgo's home. Luckily the enemies had spread out just enough for me to encounter aggression only 1 time before I made it to a decent safe spot next to the blurite ore I needed which saved a lot of my food that I needed when I encountered aggression 3 times from an ice giant on my way back, phew! panic

Witch's potion - Really simple, this one is nice for a few easy early magic levels.

Just 3 quests left: Imp catcher, Shield of Arrav, and of course Dragon slayer.

I will kill imps when I see them for the potential bead drop but at the moment I'm not solely focusing on it. For shield of arrav I will be waiting for someone seeking a partner so that we can join the appropriate gangs and tackle it together, historically I've always joined the Black Arm gang but we will see what this time around brings. Dragon slayer will be a nice challenge, I will level up a bit more to give myself more of a fighting chance and definitely be looking for something better than iron armor. I also need to do some fishing and cooking for some decent food. With that said, I'll be focusing combat to get a little tougher and hopefully pick up enough drops for some improved armor and once I'm satisfied with that I'll grab some better food. :D

No pictures today but maybe I'll add in something later and if not then I will try to include a stats picture or something on my next post! angel

Short post today, I spent most of the day preparing for the dragon slayer quest and was able to slay Elvarg! dance

It's a fairly reasonable fight with adamant armor, a rune long sword and, most importantly, bring magic! I don't think I would have been able to do it without magic. With melee and magic combined it is a little iffy but not too bad provided you have at least level 40 melee stats, ideally 45 or higher to be more on the safe side, along with the aforementioned gear and bring salmon or better food if you can.

Edit:

Uploading a stats picture to show combat stats after completing dragon slayer. Based on the first picture you can subtract the levels I got from the quest reward and see what levels I had prior to completion. I did gain a couple of levels after I completed the quest before I took this screenshot but it's pretty close.

Very nice. I'm here to do the quests once again myself so fun to read how others feel them. Congratulations on Dragon Slayer! The hiscores page has section for lowest Dragon Slayer completions but it doesn't have any names to it yet.

Thanks Jolt, glad someone enjoys the read! lol

I didn't have as much time to play today, had a bit of a busy work day and some plans afterwards but I got a few things done nonetheless.

Today I was able to finish the last quest I had left, Shield of Arrav, which I did together with Stormy, Testme, and King Arthur. We knocked it out pretty quickly and it was a lot of fun seeing 4 people with the same goal running around. dance

Now that all the quests are finished I can focus on other things, I'm thinking about spending some time at darkwizards for runes to get 55 magic and maximize my profit from smithing by high alching so I can eventually get that sweet rune armor. I'll probably break it up a bit with a little skilling here and there but that's the main goal for now. angel

Edit: Just hit 60 combat level, yay!

Hit a few little milestones today across the board, it was a good day in the world of Gielinor.

I started off by rounding off my hits to level 50 as I finished up a trip at darkwizards to gather runes. I then used some of the runes from wizards to hit 50 magic which puts me just 5 levels away from being able to high alch my smithed items! hearteyes

After some heavy lifting I decided to break up the monotony a little and get my crafting up to 30 by making some fine pie dishes. I used the method of mining clay at the west Varrock mine, turning it into soft clay at the cook's guild and then turning it into pie dishes at the potter's wheel in barbarian village and using the unfired pie dishes on the pottery oven in the same room.

Lastly, I wrapped up 60 mining to unlock the mining guild where I will be gathering coal in the future which will be part of my primary source of income as I intend to smith steel and alch the final products.

Currently I decided to pick up some arrows from the shop in Varrock so I can grab a few easy ranged levels before I get back into the mining and smithing grind. angel

Thanks for tuning in, I appreciate the messages of support from everyone! :D

It's been a few days! :D

I've been working on mining and smithing and alching the final product as planned but I did pick up a few more afk friendly levels along the way to break up the grind.

I managed to get up to 66 mining which makes mining coal a bit less painful but I still need a few more levels to get more consecutive successful attempts. With the mined ore I was able to get 57 smithing so I can make mith squares after using a dwarven stout which is a little upgrade over the steel kite but I'm more excited about mith kites in a few more levels, I'm hoping to get there in a few days but we'll see how it goes. :)

After alching the steel plates I made and using some of the other runes from darkwizards, which I semi afk as a more relaxing activity, I was able to push my magic level up to 67 which is a nice bonus as I don't have to worry about failing high alch anymore, that saves me a little frustration (20 seconds feels like a long time when you're watching the clock!) and of course some time as well.

Finally, speaking of darkwizards, I was able to round off my melee stats at 60 and that puts me at just a little over 70 combat which is not bad for a secondary activity and the supply of runes is pretty nice too. angel

Short post today before I rush off to get some rest.

The activities for today were, as usual recently, some darkwizards, mining, smithing, and alching!

With that said, we have mined and smithed our way to some runite armor purchased from the respective shops at last!

I think the forecast shows more smithing on the way but we'll see what happens. rolleyes
