Well done! Been loving seeing these, and my character is still new enough -I think it has inspired me to keep a journal myself.
Might be a good reminder to myself that even with little free time to play, progress still happens
Excited to see you making mith plates soon!

Re: The Adventures of Rin
It's been a little while!

Now for the progress report.

I've been camping darkwizards more than anything to accumulate some runes, mostly picking up natures, laws, and cosmics when they drop but I pick up the occasional elemental rune here and there when I'm bored. I think my idea is to eventually use the natures for smithing in the future but we'll see how that goes, I have to admit that sitting at darkwizards for a while with minimal effort has made me a bit lazy. blush
Other than the darkwizard massacre I did manage to get a few other things done before I set up camp.
The number 1 main thing, or my favorite at least, is as you might have gathered from the screenshot, a nice rune large helmet drop from greater demons, it took about 145 kills give or take a few. This is how I went from about 60-65 range, while 50-60 range was done mostly at black knights at the fortress inside the room that has 3 knights. The knights probably aren't the most efficient but it's a relaxing method. Before I went to knights I did 40-50 range at the Port Sarim jail which wasn't too bad at all. eng101
Aside from that I picked up a few prayer levels for paralyze monster and rounded it off at 40 prayer for protect from missile just to have all of the prayers unlocked.
Last but not least, I gathered enough clay to work my way up to 50 crafting so I don't have to bug Stormy for strength ammies when I inevitably die and lose mine. angel
For the moment I'm still giving darkwizards the business but I'm thinking about paying greater demons a visit once I hit 80 melee stats just to see if it's reasonable at all to melee them without the trips being too short.
I guess this entry ended up being slightly long but in my defense we had a lot of catching up to do!
P.S. To get 70-76 magic I just cast some fire strikes here and there while fighting darkwizards for some bonus xp. Also, I did get 2 mining levels and 3 smithing levels but that I didn't think that was worth a big mention so I'm giving it a tiny amount of attention in the text here instead.
Thanks! I'm glad people enjoy the logs/journals and it's even better that it motivates others to keep track of their own characters. It reminds me a lot of the older days when it was more common, especially in a forum setting, which is great and of course very fitting considering the game we're playing.arlo wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2024 8:39 am Well done! Re: The Adventures of Rin
Just a little update before I go off to get some rest.

Today I was able to hit 1k total finally, the hiscores don't count fletching and herblaw so it isn't reflected there at the moment, I'm not certain if this is authentic behavior or not but in any case we have the total level in the game menu.
Some levels since the last update:
80 melee stats, this was all done semi-afk at darkwizards.
70 ranged, I used a safe spot at greater demons for these 5 levels and was lucky enough to snag another rune large helmet in the process. It's a pretty relaxing way to train ranged, averaging approximately 50 arrows per kill.
80 magic, also done at greater demons using fire strike, it's a bit more expensive than air strike since you have to use both air runes and mind runes but I think for now it's worth the extra experience.
70 cooking and 75 fishing, I did fly fishing at barbarian village and cooked the fish at the fires inside the building right next to the fishing spot and then ate the fish on my way back to the fishing spot. I believe this was done until approximately 65 fishing and 65 cooking and then I switched to harpooning tuna and swordfish on karamja, chopping down a tree on karamja and cooking the inventory and teleporting to falador to bank and returning to repeat the process. I did this until 70 fishing and 70 cooking and then returned to barbarian village to powerfish until 75 fishing.
78 woodcutting and firemaking with some good old fashioned chopping and burning in the draynor area. Naturally I filled my inventory first so that the logs would drop to the ground conveniently for firemaking. Personally I find it easier to chop about 5 trees and then burn the 5 logs on the ground instead of chopping and burning 1 by 1 every single time, I'm not sure about the difference in efficiency but the process feels a lot more manageable to me and less intensive.
I'm planning to continue woodcutting and firemaking until level 80 to round it off and then after that I'm not sure what the plan is exactly. Having done 80 melee stats pretty much solely at darkwizards I think I would like to experiment with various other locations to see how the stats hold up, xp rates and such at places like moss giants, ice giants, black knights, etc. I don't intend for it to be a very detailed analysis but more like a change of scenery for a little while. We'll see how it goes!
Happy adventuring everyone. dance

Nice work, Rin! That's a lot of time spent at darkwizards even if semi-afk, and your magic level really reflects that. Won't be long until you claim 100 combat and beyond. Keep up the great work

Re: The Adventures of Rin
It's time for another update!

Levels since last time:
78-80 woodcutting and firemaking, rounded off in the draynor area.
80-82 magic, mixed bag of fire strike, some superheating, and high alching some smithed items.
75-85 fishing, powerfishing at barb village entirely. I've been enjoying binge watching movies and clicking away at the fly fishing spot. Normally I found this to be more tiring than other click intensive skills like mining since you don't get to move around at all and it really is just clicking over and over on the same spot but after a while I don't seem to mind it as much anymore. I will say though after I got a new silent "soft touch" mouse it got a lot easier because I don't have to apply as much clicking pressure as I did with my old basic mouse. It doesn't seem like much and I didn't plan it at all but it turned out to make a big difference for me in terms of repetitive clicking over a longer period of time, totally unexpected but very cool side effect.
50-60 crafting, mostly done by making gold necklaces and some holy symbols. I wanted to do gold amulets mostly so I could make some gp at the same time for feathers since I've been focusing on powerfishing recently but I'll pick up some runes and arrows as well when I get a chance. I mined gold at karamja, teleported to fally to use the furnace, walked to port sarim to sell the freshly made necklaces and take the boat back to karamja, rinse and repeat.
65-68 smithing, mostly from smelting gold ore during the crafting grind with a few other scraps here and there.
70-74 mining, also mostly from the gold ore I mined for the crafting grind, not much else.
Until next time!

Nice work! I've never heard of a soft touch mouse but now I'm intrigued. I can see how powerfishing would be very laid back especially having no fatigue in the game. You could probably do something similar with mining iron if you're willing to accept that the majority of your clicks are on empty rocks. Still better than nothing - though mining is kind of absorbed into smithing anyway so there's less reason to train it directly. Do you have any plans for catching up with cooking or is that a problem for another day? lol
I saw you doing the crafting loop - that seems like an excellent use of laws, probably a solid UIM method as well. The only problem is getting the runes, haha.

The lack of a fatigue system definitely makes a big difference! As far as the mouse goes, it might be worth a shot. It's purely anecdotal, from my perspective, but my finger definitely feels the difference. For what it's worth it's not a "fancy" one, it's a logitech m330 that I paid $15 (usd) for just to replace my old $10 one, I play on my laptop these days and just go far any reasonably priced wireless mouse. That said now I'm considering a "fancy" one but from the looks of it I'm paying more for the RGB lighting than anything else so I will likely pass on any purported upgrade. smugAlder wrote: Tue Nov 26, 2024 5:57 am Nice work! I had the thought about powermining iron too, well, the initial thought was, "what else can I progress while being this lazy?" but that is to be determined. I do feel a bit more compelled to pair mining with smithing. Clearly I don't feel as motivated to cook everything I fish, given the current mismatch in levels! I'm not sure if cooking will catch up, I've been thinking about it but we'll see how it goes.Alder wrote: Tue Nov 26, 2024 5:57 am You could probably do something similar with mining iron if you're willing to accept that the majority of your clicks are on empty rocks. Yeah, to be honest I didn't very much consider if it was a good use of laws as much as I was lazy (seems like a theme at this point) but I figured it wasn't the worst way in the world to use them. Besides that I anticipate needing a lot more nature runes in the future and laws are sort of a byproduct of that grind so I think we can make it work.Alder wrote: Tue Nov 26, 2024 5:57 am I saw you doing the crafting loop - that seems like an excellent use of laws, probably a solid UIM method as well.
